dc.description.abstract The research titled "The Impact of COVID-19 on the Private Practice of Psychological Practitioners: A Hermeneutic Phenomenological Perspective", is a comprehensive study examining the profound effects of the COVID-19 pandemic on psychological practitioners in private practice. This research adopted a hermeneutic phenomenological approach to deeply explore the experiences of practitioners during the pandemic. Ten psychological practitioners registered with the Health Professions Council of South Africa were purposefully selected and virtual semi-structured interviews were conducted. An interpretative phenomenological approach was used to analyse the interview data. The study revealed the challenges faced by the practitioners as a result of the pandemic, impacting on their economic and operational stability. Findings also highlight the resilience and innovative strategies employed to navigate the unprecedented changes brought about by COVID-19. This research is significant in the field of Industrial and Organisational Psychology. The study goes beyond documenting challenges; it fosters a culture of innovation and sustainability within the psychological practice domain. By showcasing how the psychological community evolved and thrived in the face of adversity, it sets a precedent for future crisis management. This research thus acts as a cornerstone for addressing the multifaceted challenges posed by the pandemic and offers a forward-thinking perspective on the future preparedness of the psychological community and small and medium sized enterprises in the event of similar crises. In essence, it serves as a guiding light towards resilience, adaptability, and innovation within the broader business community. en
