This presentation explores the role of Technology-Enhanced Learning (TEL) in strengthening teaching, learning and assessment within an Open Distance e-Learning (ODeL) environment. It focuses on how academics can move beyond the simple use of digital tools toward purposeful learning design that improves access, engagement, feedback and student success. The presentation highlights key ODeL realities, including diverse student contexts, connectivity challenges, large classes and the need for flexible learning pathways. It also discusses practical TEL principles such as aligning technology with learning outcomes, designing accessible resources, encouraging meaningful interaction, providing timely feedback and developing authentic assessments. Special attention is given to academic integrity and the responsible use of artificial intelligence in online learning environments. The session concludes by encouraging academics to make small, intentional improvements to their modules in ways that support inclusive, engaging and pedagogically sound learning experiences |
