BILDBETRACHTUNGEN IM KONTEXT DER PASTORALTHERAPIE : EINE EXPLORATIVE UNTERSUCHUNG IN EINER REHABILITATIONSKLINIK IN BAYERN

Abstract

The study was done in the context of pastoral therapy in a rehabilitation hospital in Bavaria. It explores the feelings and thoughts aroused by contemplating on the Rembrandt painting, The Return of the Prodigal Son. The research consisted of observing the painting, then forms giving feedback, followed by eight guided interviews on what could be observed under the aspects of self-reflection, identification and reorientation. Other categories identified were image-detail, biography, religion and emotion. The evaluation of the aesthetic reception showed two types of reactions, namely identification with a person or a subject of the painting. Each interviewee presented an individual characteristic relating it to their life situation. Core themes corresponding to the painting’s content were guilt, forgiveness, mercy and reorientation. The study provides information on the possibility of reorientation through creative experiences by contemplating on paintings, thus presenting aspects that can be explored further in studies on pastoral therapy.

Die Forschungsarbeit erfolgte im Kontext der Klinikseelsorge einer Rehabilitationsklinik in Bayern und exploriert die während der Betrachtung von Rembrandts Bild, Die Rückkehr des verlorenen Sohnes, erzeugten Gefühlen und Gedanken. Die Forschungsschritte bestanden in der Bildbetrachtung, Erhebung von Feedbackbögen und acht Leitfadeninterviews mit Fokus auf die Aspekte der Bildbetrachtung bezüglich Selbstreflexion, Identifikation und Neuorientierung. Weitere induktiv gewonnene Kategorien bestanden in Bilddetail, Biographie, Religion und Emotion. Unter rezeptionsästhetischen Gesichtspunkten zeigten sich zwei Reaktionstypen, nämlich die der Identifikation mit einer Person oder einer Thematik des Bildes. Jeder Interviewperson konnte zudem eine individuelle, die Lebenssituation betreffende, Hauptcharakteristik zugeordnet werden. Die inhaltlichen Kernthemen Schuld und Vergebung sowie Barmherzigkeit und Neubeginn entsprachen der vorgegebenen Bildthematik. Damit liefert die Forschungsarbeit Aufschlüsse zur Förderung kreativer Erlebnisprozesse mit der Möglichkeit einer Neuorientierung in der Betrachtung eines Bildes, die für die Pastoraltherapie weiter erforscht werden können.
