dc.description.abstract This paper provides an overview of a general cell silicon compiler being developed at the University of Natal. The individual components, together with their motivation, are presented. No attempt is made to provide explicit algorithmic details; these may be found in the references. The paradigm adopted recognises the current trend in the use of compiled, semi-custom and custom modules in the creation of recent designs, and provides a tool that is easily integrated with existing CAD systems and practices. en_US
